Challenges

Selwyn Snow Resort underwent a major electrical infrastructure upgrade led by Essential Energy.

The primary goal was to strengthen the power supply reliability and mitigate the risk of outages, which had significantly impacted the area in 2023.

Frequent power disruptions had caused operational difficulties for the resort and inconvenience for visitors. This project was crucial to ensuring a stable and continuous energy supply, particularly before the start of the peak snow season.

Rodgers Electrical partnered with TESMEC Australia, leveraging specialized trenching expertise and in-depth knowledge of rock saw technology to navigate the project's demanding ground conditions. The project posed several challenges, including harsh terrain and a strict deadline to complete the work before the onset of winter operations.

Solution

To overcome these challenges, we deployed the TRS885 trenching machine. This equipment was specifically chosen for its capability to perform efficiently in various soil conditions. It can achieve a trenching rate of up to 60 meters per day in solid rock and up to 200 meters per day in softer ground, making it an ideal solution for this project.

Result

The introduction of the TRS885 trencher in the region showcased its effectiveness in tackling hard rock environments. The successful execution of this project reinforced its reliability and efficiency for future infrastructure upgrades in similar conditions.
